About/Contact

What is this?

  • This is a website about art and other things. This place has been many things over the the past 10 years. This place has been an art community, personal website, and sounding board. Right now it is about photography. Every post will have an image, or many. There are and will be many Burning Man posts. There will also be many posts about photography. Sometimes the writing will be sparse, but there will always be photographs.

Who creates it? How?

  • This place is hosted by Christopher “Lemur” Colley. A photographer who went to college to learn how to make images. A burner and a lamplighter. A participant and worker bee at the yearly Burning Man event where I run the kitchen for the Lamplighters. An irc addict who was born in California and currently lives in the Chicago area.
  • I began my first real steps in to photography with small pinhole cameras. Since then, I have worked heavily in traditional historic photographic processes as well as building extensive experience in digital capture and output. Creating pigment prints and capturing digitally has now become just as routine for me as making a traditional black and white darkroom print from 35mm film.
  • Over the years I have worked with various monochrome printing processes including gelatin silver, cyanotype, van dyke brown, kallitype, tinytype and ziatype. I’ve shot all sorts of formats, 35mm, 6×4.5, 6×6, 6×7, 4×5, 4×10, 8×10. I still very much enjoy the tactile feel of a print in your hands. I have done hybrid prints using traditional historic monochrome printing processes with modern digitally printed negatives. I have designed, printed, bound and covered multiple hand made books of photographs.
  • I enjoy street photography. I enjoy photographs with people in them. I enjoy gritty urban texture stuff. I enjoy photographs about media. I like photographs about photography. I like art about art. Influences: Aaron Siskind, Robert Frank, Mark Rothko, Garry Winogrand
