Is Doctrine Really the Answer

This man said “doctrine is the answer” and I wonder if it is. Just how much can doctrine and strict regimen really improve the way things in the world are dealt with? Whether it be used in a religious context or a societal ills context the question raised by this man is a worthy one.

Dense Fog Advisory

A warm front moved in during the early evening hours. A thick layer of snow on the ground caused a large amount of fog to blow through the area. With the wind gusts one could see clouds of the fog billowing in the flood lights.

Modern day snake oil

I love televised ministries. Seeing the various ways one can preach interests me to no end. Now, along with this interest is my interest in photographing a television. I have been doing this for years and I was very surprised today to find a man selling snake oil.

Is your art YOURS? Buy MY book Instead!!

Making images of other people inside of their cars has fascinated me for a while now. For a long time, maybe 5 years I have been photographing the drivers and passengers of vehicles as I rode past them. Imagine my surprise when I found a well respected photographer, Andrew Bush, released a book called “DRIVE” featuring the exact type of photograph that I had been making for years.

the things we are always leaving behind

Trash. Litter. What is out of place? What really belongs in a certain spot?

Live from the scenes of devastion

“LOST SIAMESE CAT: Name is Fauna also answers to “KITTY” small female, tan/dk brown. missing since day of tornado. Please Call. $100 Reward”

Speed hump ahead.

“We represent the future, for damn sure”. “There’s people… believe it or not who don’t know anything about it…”.

stability longevity and things we need

We like things a certain way. Everyone does, some special thing they require or desire or lust after or make sure of is always at the ready, be it physically on hand or in mind. What does it mean that we need certain things or feel that we need things in a certain order or in a certain way or quantity to be happy?

sand dunes water and trains

Time keeps ticking away and no matter whether I acknowledge it or care about it time always seems to add up! When looking around outside everything signals that it is nearing spring and with that past events appear flickering bouncing and crawling up again in my mind.

blizzard conditions

The wind outside was coming out of the west at a sustained rate of 30mph, with gusts around 45mph. With the air filled with powdery snow it was difficult to look into the wind even with something covering the eyes. I’ve felt this before!

Working on some stuff

It is snowing today. To walk around in the silence after it snows in a large city is one of the few things I look forward to each year. The snow seems to act like a large muffler that deafens the already quiet evening air. With the snow deadening the noise of all of the road vehicles tires it is much more peaceful.
